| Hallettsville
Held at the giant Knights of Columbus Hall in Hallettsville, the Texas State Championship Fiddlers Frolics is the granddaddy of all fiddling contests, where fidders from Texas and across the country compete for over $20,000 in prize money. The contest begins April 26 along with Cajun Fun Night featuring the duo of Boudreaux & Pousson, Charles Thibodeaux and the Austin Aces, Jean-Pierre Blanchard & the Zydeco Angels, and Jesse Lege and Bosco Stomp. Crawfish, gumbo, red beans and rice and other fare will be available. The freshman and senior division, featuring some very talented fiddlers from all ages, will compete April 27. Outside is a barbecue cook-off as well as free live music. That night, the inside stage will host Diamond Rio along with the Bar Ditch Hippies.
A recipient will be inducted into the Texas Fiddlers Hall of Fame, which features other noteworthy fiddlers such as Johnny Gimble, Terry Morris and Bob Wills. Another barbecue cook-off with live music, food, arts and crafts and more will be held outside. Taste some of the best barbecue you have ever had. Inside will have the best fiddlers in Texas compete for the title of Texas State Champion Fiddler.
