From first kite flights to college graduations, the rungs on life’s ladder are climbed in small and big steps
Snip, snip. A small, but noteworthy milestone: the first haircut. Little 15-month-old Asa “Ace Man” Chapman had never seen scissors cut hair before. Asa’s mom, Devanee Chapman, is a member of Bandera Electric Cooperative.
In the thrill of a lifetime, 11-year-old Gaby Martinez met astronaut Alan Bean, the fourth man to walk on the moon, at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches. Gaby is the granddaughter of Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative members Mickey and Glenn Bowles.
At the age of 58, Wise Electric Cooperative member Darlene Fields, who held two associate degrees, received her bachelor’s degree from Texas Woman’s University. “I was happy, and my family was proud for me,” she says.
Brothers Ryder, 2, and Sage Price, 4, fly their first kite up to its highest height on a windy hill in Navasota. Mom Brandy Price, a Mid-South Synergy member, says the boys’ uncle bought them the kite for Easter.
A visit to Galveston Island provided the perfect opportunity for Samantha Hvidbjerg to build her first sand castle. She is the daughter of Søren and Kristi Hvidbjerg and the granddaughter of Judy Swinger, who took the photo. All are members of Fayette Electric Cooperative.
Navasota Valley Electric Cooperative member Sally Merryman captured two important milestones for her grandson and great-nephew, respectively: Blayne Tepera, who graduated from prekindergarten in Franklin; and Sterling Merryman, who graduated from Burton High School.
Whoop! Christine Garbs, daughter of Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative member Jeff Garbs, celebrates earning a finance degree from Texas A&M University.
