Please Answer the Call

Phone survey helps SPEC offer better service to members

A brand new year is upon us and we at South Plains Electric Cooperative are continuing our quest to provide safe, reliable electric service at the lowest possible cost, along with responsive and timely member service. We believe the best way to accomplish these goals is to solicit feedback from our membership.

We do this every two years by conducting a traditional member survey where we call and ask you about 20 questions varying from everyday service items to how you want us to communicate with you. With all of the spammers calling you daily, it’s harder and harder for us to reach our members. We considered an email format for the survey, but statistically, telephone surveys provide a more clear and accurate picture of our members’ opinions.

Our best bet is to let you know we will be calling you in March for the survey. Actual people from NRECA Market Research, not a robodialer, will be calling you. If you get a call from a number you don’t recognize and want to verify it is our surveyors, just dial the number back. You will get a recording verifying that the person is calling for our survey. If you should happen to receive a call from that number again, your cooperation in completing our quick survey will be much appreciated!

Your comments, questions and concerns are always welcome and often serve as a springboard for new and better services. We truly want to hear from our members regarding what SPEC is doing right and where we need to improve.

One example from our 2017 member survey is the implementation of an e-newsletter. The survey showed that our members would appreciate informative e-newsletters from the cooperative. We launched the first e-newsletter at the end of August announcing the $4.125 million in capital credits we were giving back to members. Since then, we have sent information about Youth Tour, scholarships, teacher mini grants, recipes for Thanksgiving and photos demonstrating the vital importance your cooperative serves in our local communities. There is so much more to your cooperative than electricity, and we are excited to find new ways to educate you about the cooperative difference!

I’ll ask again that you answer our call and give us 10 minutes of your time for the survey. It’s another way you have a voice in the cooperative. It’s your chance to provide confidential feedback to the board of directors and management team about the cooperative and the services we provide.

We just want you to be happy!
