Cranberry Harvest

Sip and bake your way through the holidays with this traditional fruit

When I hosted my first Thanksgiving, I found myself with leftover cranberries I had trouble getting through. This holiday season, we’re not letting any cranberry escape our holiday table. I’m transforming cranberries into a delicious agua fresca that can be enjoyed throughout the holiday season. It’s tart, sweet and ideal for a crowd.

Cranberry Agua Fresca

1 bag fresh or frozen cranberries (12 ounces), plus more to garnish
10 cups water
1 1/2 cups sugar
Juice of 1 lime
Lime slices, to garnish

Cook’s Tip: The agua fresca can be made up to two days in advance and stored in the fridge. Stir before serving.

1. To a stockpot, add cranberries, water and sugar. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer on low until all cranberries have popped and softened and all sugar is dissolved, about 10 minutes.

2. Remove from heat and allow to cool. In batches, add cranberries and liquid to a blender and blend until smooth.

3. Strain into a punch bowl or pitcher. Stir in lime juice, add ice, and garnish with additional cranberries and lime slices as desired.

Serves 10.
