Big Country EC Awards $8,500 in Community Grants

Concern for Community is a core principle at BCEC

In March, the Big Country Electric Cooperative Trust Board of Directors utilized Operation Round Up funds to award $8,500 in grants to the following organizations:

Anson Fire Department: $4,000
Sparrows Nest Maternity Home: $1,000
Stonewall County Senior Citizens Center: $3,000
Fisher County Youth Baseball: $500

What Is Operation Round Up?

Operation Round Up is a program that allows Big Country EC members who opt in to round their electric bills up to the nearest dollar. These amounts—never more than 99 cents per month—are then distributed to individuals and organizations with demonstrated financial need in the counties we serve: Borden, Fisher, Garza, Haskell, Jones, Kent, Mitchell, Nolan, Scurry, Shackelford, Stonewall and Throckmorton. Every penny stays right here at home.

Who Can Apply?

Local organizations and programs that provide vital community services including food banks, shelters, medical and health centers, rescue organizations, educational projects, and childcare programs. Families and individuals with demonstrated financial need due to life-altering circumstances may also apply.

Grants are awarded quarterly; the next application deadline is 5:30 p.m. May 21. For complete information about our Operation Round Up program or to opt in or out of participation, visit bigcountry.coop/operation-round-up.
