Big Country EC Awards $8K in Community Grants

Apply today to Operation Round Up

In September, the Big Country Electric Cooperative Trust Board of Directors utilized Operation Round Up funds to award $8,000 in grants to the following organizations:

$1,000: First Baptist Church of Haskell
$1,500: Fluvanna Volunteer Fire Department
$1,000: Hamlin Community Food Bank
$1,000: Haskell Ministerial Alliance
$3,000: Post Independent School District
$500: Roby VFD

What is Operation Round Up?

Operation Round Up is a program that allows Big Country EC members who opt in to round up their electric bills to the nearest dollar. These amounts—never more than 99 cents per account per month—are then distributed to individuals and organizations with demonstrated financial need in the counties we serve: Borden, Fisher, Garza, Haskell, Jones, Kent, Mitchell, Nolan, Scurry, Shackelford, Stonewall and Throckmorton. Every penny stays right here at home.

Who Can Apply?

Local organizations and programs that provide vital community services including food banks, shelters, medical and health centers, rescue organizations, educational projects, and child care programs. Families and individuals with demonstrated financial need due to life-altering circumstances may also apply.

Grants are awarded quarterly; the next application deadline is 5:30 p.m. November 12. For complete information about our Operation Round Up program or to opt in or out of participation, visit bigcountry.coop/operation-round-up.
