Focus on Texas: Climbing High

Cheer right up with these pics from Co-op Country

There are lots of reasons to climb high: to get a better view, to reach something in need of repair or simply to prove to oneself that it can be done. This month, let’s crane our necks and see who has scrambled their way to the top.

Nicki Klein, Bluebonnet EC: Colorado River climber.

Meagan Benavides, Nueces EC: “DJ climbs a pole as he competes for his chance to join the NEC rodeo team.”

Guyna Polasek, GVEC: “Just had it set up and wanted a closer look.”

Mike Zarella, Pedernales EC: “The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds at the Wings Over Houston Airshow perform a maneuver where they fly nearly straight up, climbing almost out of sight, before roaring back down at tremendous speeds.”

Mike Prestigiacomo, Bartlett EC: To the summit.

Leasa Baxter, Fannin EC: “Bryce Baxter climbs hay bales after helping his dad and uncle haul them.”

Don Bickham, Bandera EC: “Made it to the top of Guadalupe Peak (the highest point in Texas) in January at age 75.”

Russell Dickerson, Taylor EC: “Four young mountain climbers (ages 6 to 13) scale a ledge near the Guadalupe Peak Trail.”

Amy Rodriguez, Tri-County EC: “The dizzying staircase going up to the tower of Cape Henry Lighthouse at Fort Story, Virginia.”

Jamie Vazquez, Pedernales EC: “A Texan away from home enjoying the fresh air and the feeling of climbing high.”

Alan Heiberg, Pedernales EC: “My daughter, Caroline, appreciating South Dakota’s Black Hills.”

Linda Peacock, United Cooperative Services: “We had a tree trimmed beside our house, and this guy climbed up and did it all.”

Paul Taylor, Pedernales EC: “Looking north from Elephant Tusk in Big Bend National Park. The image is a little off-kilter, but I had to focus some of my attention on not falling off!”
