MVEC Employees Raise $5,000 for Edinburg Children’s Hospital Playroom

Since 2011, MVEC employees have raised over $120,000 to support various local non-profit organizations

Employees at Magic Valley Electric Cooperative presented a check in the amount of $5,000 to the Auxiliary to South Texas Health System to enhance the teen playroom at Edinburg Children’s Hospital. MVEC employees participated in various fundraising activities at the Cooperative, including t-shirt sales, raffle tickets and even a monthly employee parking spot auction to ensure a successful fundraising campaign. The contribution provided for a desk, computer, game table with chairs, artwork, large television screen, Xbox gaming system, sound bar, theater sofa recliners, an entertainment table, foosball table, and traditional board games for family fun. The teen playroom is one of three play areas which provide patients an outlet to get away from their rooms for a little fun during the recovery process.

“It is the dedication of our employees that allows us to make a positive impact on the children in our region,” said John W. Herrera, MVEC’s General Manager. “Giving back to our community and supporting those in need is crucial to ensuring that the Rio Grande Valley continues to grow and prosper.”

Supporting our communities has always been at the heart of MVEC employees. Since 2011, MVEC employees have raised over $120,000 to support various local non-profit organizations.

“The Auxiliary to South Texas Health System Foundation is incredibly grateful to MVEC employees who are helping us in our quest to enhance the quality of life of children in our region,” said Joel Pena, South Texas Health System Director of Volunteer Services. “Every dollar received through the Foundation supports important patient programs led by our team of nurses, doctors, child life specialists and volunteers at the Edinburg Children’s Hospital.”
