Recap: 81st Annual Membership Meeting

Highlights from the Medina EC Annual Meeting in Hondo

Medina Electric Cooperative held its 81st annual meeting in Hondo on Saturday, September 28. Members and their guests showed up bright and early to Graff 7A Ranch—home of the South Texas Maize, a 7-acre corn maze—to partake in a breakfast buffet, enjoy the fellowship of friends and neighbors, hear an update on the business of the cooperative, and for a lucky few, win door prizes. The employees and board members of Medina EC extend their thanks to all who attended. Below is a brief recap of the meeting.

Business Meeting Highlights

CEO Mark Rollans provided an update on the business and financial condition of the cooperative.

Medina EC has met all of the financial goals set by its board and remains financially stable. Energy sales continue to increase, and the co-op continues to build infrastructure to keep up with demand.

Solar by Medina EC was launched. This program offers members a 5-kilowatt ground-mounted solar panel system for $15,000 plus tax, installed by the co-op.

Employees were recognized for reaching service milestones in 5-year increments. As employees reach these milestones, Medina EC makes a donation on their behalf. The co-op has donated $1,200 this year to charitable causes and will donate another $800 by year-end.

Several lucky members went home with door prizes, which included gift cards, bill credits and a $1,000 grand prize.

Following the meeting, members and their families enjoyed the attractions at Graff 7A Ranch, including the 7-acre corn maze.

Ask the Co-op

Here are a couple of the questions submitted on Ask the Co-op cards during this year’s meeting. Members who asked account-specific questions were contacted directly by a Medina EC staff member. If you have a question, email [email protected].

Will You Offer Internet Service?
Medina EC is always looking at what services would best suit our membership. With such a large service area, we have to consider what, if any, products and services will benefit all our membership. At this time, we have not found an affordable way to provide quality internet service throughout the 17 counties we serve.

Is Now A Good Time to Purchase Solar Through Medina EC?
Medina EC has spent a lot of time in the solar game—even before we began selling our own panels. We’ve done our research and are ready to provide you with a more affordable and reliable option to have solar on your property.
