Like all good camp recipes, the ingredient list for this one is short, though the taste is anything but. This cobbler is a warm delight after a day outdoors. Add everything to the Dutch oven and sit back to enjoy the fire while your dessert bakes.

2 cans sliced peaches (15 ounces each)
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 box vanilla cake mix (13.25 ounces)
4–8 tablespoons (1/2–1 stick) butter, sliced
Whipped cream or ice cream, for serving

1. Lightly grease a seasoned Dutch oven and add sliced peaches, spreading to cover the bottom.

2. Sprinkle peaches with cinnamon and brown sugar. Stir to combine. Sprinkle cake mix over the peaches to evenly coat, breaking up clumps if needed. Place slices of butter, spaced evenly, on dry cake mix.

3. Cover and place directly on bed of coals, then carefully place 10 coals on lid. Bake 30–45 minutes, rotating every 15 minutes to evenly bake.

4. Serve warm with a heaping spoonful of whipped cream or scoop of ice cream.

Serves 10.
