Kenton Sorke of Joshua, son of United Cooperative Services members Ingo and Nancy Sorke, is the grand-prize winner in the 2013 Co-op Teens Power Texas video contest. His entry, “Remember When,” won $1,500.
Sorke is also the winner of the second-place $500 prize, which was determined by the most views on YouTube. The video has been watched more than 1,000 times.
Ashlyn Austin, daughter of United Cooperative Services members Charles and Teresa Austin, is a runner-up in the 2013 Co-op Teens Power Texas video contest. Austin’s entry, “When the Lights First Came On,” won $250.
Eligible contestants in grades 6 through 12 submitted videos of a 5- to 10-minute interview with someone who remembered “when the lights came on,” the time they first received electricity.
