New CEO Grebe Will Join
the Cooperative on January 3

Following a six-month executive search, Medina Electric Cooperative has hired a new CEO.

Herbert “Trey” Grebe III will begin January 3. Grebe has more than 20 years of senior management level experience in electric cooperatives and a demonstrated history of success working with electric utilities. Grebe will become MEC’s ninth CEO. MEC provides affordable, reliable electric service for more than 19,000 member-owners across 17 South Texas counties.

“Trey’s extensive experience and expertise are perfectly suited to helping us continue our mission of providing safe, reliable electricity at the lowest possible cost to our member-owners,” said MEC Board President Kenneth G. White.

For the past five years, Grebe served as assistant general manager of Wheatland Electric Cooperative in Scott City, Kansas.

Grebe is a native of Taft, Texas, and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing from Texas State University in San Marcos. He also is a certified procurement professional and a certified energy manager. Trey has been actively involved with community and professional organizations throughout his career.

Grebe said, “I’m truly honored to become a part of this amazing organization. I look forward to working with the talented employees serving the membership of Medina Electric.”

Important Milestones

Medina Electric Cooperative celebrated several special work anniversaries for employees between July and December of last year.

Work anniversaries are celebrated in five-year increments, also known as service awards. For service awards, the cooperative donates $100 in honor of each employee to an organization of their choice.
