The Fun at Annual Meeting

It’s not all business

Business is an important part of the Annual Membership Meeting, but it is not the only thing that will be happening on October 6. Here’s what else you can expect.

Operation: Giving Back

Shortly before last year’s Annual Membership Meeting and after the September 2017 Texas Co-op Power had gone to print, Hurricane Harvey struck the Texas Coast. Several cooperatives that Medina EC works closely with were hit by the storm, and the lives of many of their employees and members were devastated. As a last minute way to help, Medina EC collected donated gift cards and money at the annual meeting. Medina EC members came through, as they always do, and the money was sent to a relief fund for employees of cooperatives impacted by the storm.

That catastrophic event has started what we would like to make a new tradition.

For this year’s Annual Meeting, we have chosen active military personnel as our “Giving Back” project. Members can bring items to donate at the Annual Meeting. We will continue collecting items at all of our offices throughout October, and in November we will mail them to service men and women overseas. If you know of a unit who could use the items, please email us their complete mailing address at [email protected], and we will add them to our list.

Items To Donate

Powdered drink mixes

Meal enhancersAnything to mix with MREs: seasoned salt, individual packets of hot sauce, mustard, relish and ketchup

Energy bars

Candy and gum. Avoid items that could melt.

Travel-size containers of personal care products: shampoo, toothpaste, shaving lotion, lotion, etc. No aerosol cans.

Toiletries: toothbrush, dental floss, cotton swabs, lip balm, individually packaged baby wipes, etc.

You can get other ideas at Military.com. All donated items should be brand new, unopened and safety sealed.
