Campfire Favorites

Gather ’round the blaze, and we’ll bring the treats

It’s not a camping trip without s’mores! The 1927 recipe for s’mores, as written in a Girl Scouts guidebook, says to toast marshmallows over a fire “to a crisp gooey state.” Today I’m sharing a skillet version that you can easily whip up in your trusty cast iron.

Skillet S’mores Dip

4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter
1 bag semisweet chocolate chips (12 ounces)
4 cups mini marshmallows
Chocolate graham crackers, for serving

1. Preheat a charcoal or gas grill for indirect cooking over medium-high heat.

2. Place a 10-inch cast-iron skillet on grill for 5 minutes.

3. Remove skillet from the heat and melt butter, covering the entire cooking surface evenly.

4. Add chocolate chips to evenly cover the bottom of skillet. Top with marshmallows.

5. Place skillet over indirect heat. Close grill or cover skillet with a lid. Grill 10–12 minutes or until marshmallows are slightly melted and lightly toasted.

6. Serve warm with chocolate graham crackers.

Serves 6.
