PrePaid electricity changes how you pay for electricity. It’s just like putting gas in your vehicle’s tank: Make a payment and fill up your “electric tank.” Pay again when you’re running low, whether that is in a week or two months. You decide how much to pay and when, just like you decide when to top off your gas tank.
You make an initial payment towards your account. Each day, Medina EC calculates the cost of the electricity you used and subtracts it from the balance in your account. Once your balance reaches $25, you will be notified (depending on your account preferences). When you make a payment, it will be added to your balance.
Your account will be disconnected when your balance is zero, just like your car would stop working when your gas tank hit empty. If your account reaches $0 and is disconnected, a payment of $75 plus the amount of any electricity you used but didn’t pay for is due to get your power reconnected. The $75 payment goes towards the balance in your account. So, if you owe $8 for electricity at the time you are disconnected, you will need to make a payment of $83 ($75+$8) for power to be reconnected.
Because you are prepaying for your electricity, no deposits are required. Instead of paying monthly when you get a bill, you can budget a set amount and add it to your account as often as you want. It’s easy to make payments and add to your account—it can be done with the click of a button on the SmartHub app from your phone. If you are disconnected, there are no disconnect/reconnect fees to have your electricity turned back on.
