Focus on Texas:
Catch of the Day

We’re going to lure you in with amazing reader photos

This nautical haul leaves us reeling with excitement! Fishing out the best ones was easy as shooting fish in a barrel. There may be bigger fish to fry, but these folks seem pretty pleased with what’s on the line.

Tom Herrin, Pedernales EC: “A mature bald eagle catches lunch in the Mississippi River during the dead of winter.”

Jennifer Matula, Victoria EC: “Her first big redfish that she brought in on her own.”

Ray Bednar, Bluebonnet EC: “A kingfisher about to have a large lunch.”

Allison Anderton, Sam Houston EC: “To everyone else, it might be small, but to me my first catch surpasses them all!”

Jean Curtis, Tri-County EC: “Fishing North Padre Island, you never know what you’ll reel in. Both were successfully released.”

Allison Hebert, San Bernard EC: “Nolan and Sam fishing in the bay.”

Patricia Hefti, Bryan Texas Utilities: “It kind of unnerved Caroline, our granddaughter, when she landed a bass out of our lake that was almost as big as she was on her first attempt.”

Kathy Moreaux, Navasota Valley EC: “Our grandson Case loves to fish anytime, anywhere. This one was caught in Caney Creek in Sargent.”

Phil Pasche, CoServ: “My wife, Kim, catching her first fish. She was so proud.”

Mike Zarella, Pedernales EC: “While fishing the Pedernales River near our home in Blanco County with my son, Ryan, and grandson, Wyatt, they caught a small sunfish that became the highlight of the day for Wyatt. He was a bit reluctant to touch his catch.”

Marcie Freelen, United Cooperative Services: “There’s nothing better than fishing at great-grandparents’ pond and catching a great catch.”

Jonathan Jansky, San Bernard EC: “A 13-pound yellow cat pulled in on the Guadalupe River.”

Tricia Johnson, Trinity Valley EC: “Trevor catching a feisty sun perch on the south fork of the Guadalupe outside Hunt.”
